Where Are They Now?
Two or three decades ago, these companies loomed large in the software industry. Now they don't even show up in Wikipedia.
When I left Corporate Software a little over 25 years ago to start my own software development business, they were one of the leading Microsoft partners and resellers. At some point along the way, they appear to have been swallowed up by a financial holding company, and there don't seem to be any traces left behind of this once predominant global corporation.
At one time, Retix was the leader in OSI communications. I still have one of the coffee mugs they gave out at the industry conventions, with their diagram of the ISO and CCITT Data Communication Standards. Now they can scarcely be found in the Wayback Machine.
